Biri Chop

What is Biri Chop?

This typical street style Biri Chop is our family favourite snacks made with tempered mashed potatoes coated with urad daal batter and deep vfried till crisp, All you need is a glass of chai besides this to enjoy in this winter.

Memories associated with Biri Chop:

As the nine day Durga Puja celebration comes to an end today, it makes us sad to bid goodbye to Maa , the parting is always difficult but it has some wonderful memories associated with this day also.

🌼As soon as the Visarjan would be over, we all would wait for the mausi ( our street vendor) to arrive with her tokri full of these BIRI CHOP for us to devour.🌼Our annual trip to #kendrapada is never complete without having Rasabali, Potalipitha, Biri Chop and on the way having Bikala Kar Rasagola along with Puri Buta Dalma in Salepur.

🌼After 9 days of refraining from using oil ,onion and garlic , this BIRI CHOP is our palette saviour. We donot count the nos of these chops each one of us actually ate.

I must say this famous street food from Kendrapada is addictive in nature. You cant say no to it, the crunchy outer covering made of urad daal batter, curry leaves, green chili and cumin seeds perfectly compliment the soft and garlicky aloo chop inside.

🌼This year the Puja was quite different where I couldnot taste the BIRI CHOP, So here is the virtual treat of the BIRI CHOP I made today as part of our mandatory dushera celebration.
